Industry News, Winners

The Sound Voice Project, winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2023 has been nominated for the Sky Arts Awards 2025, continuing its journey as a groundbreaking digital-opera installation exploring voice, identity, and community.

The award winners will be announced on 16 September at The Roundhouse, London.

Created with Britten Pears Arts in collaboration with healthcare, technology, and biomedical research partners, the project was developed by composer Hannah Conway, librettist Hazel Gould, video designer Luke Halls, and sound designer David Sheppard, together with Dr. Thomas Moors. It blends immersive sound, operatic performance, and real-life stories from people experiencing voice loss.

Audiences experience the work within a specially designed birch wood sound-house cylinder, surrounded by 360-degree sound. Professional opera singers perform fictional characters, creating an intimate and immersive exploration of voice and identity.

Winning the FEDORA Digital Prize, sponsored by Kearney and supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, enabled the transformation of The Sound Voice Project into a gallery-compatible version, bringing it to diverse audiences and venues across the UK. We are proud to have supported this innovative work and warmly wish the team every success with their Sky Arts Awards nomination.
